Greg MacNair's
renaissance man saga began when he won the National Pac-Man Championship
in 1982. His father owned a pizza parlor in which he would obsessively
play the game. He has similarly poured himself into varying passions
ever since.
He is an accomplished painter whose work has been
displayed at London's Tate Gallery and the Museum of Modern Art in New
York (his free hand drawing of the band graces the cover of the 5 Songs
EP). He was elected to a single term in the Canadian Parliament in the
early 90s. MacNair's occasional forays into chemical engineering have
resulted in his being awarded four U.S. patents for formulas he devised
for producing a more pleasantly-odored paint thinner.
The common thread throughout his various pursuits has
always been the violin. He still plays the heirloom instrument his
grandfather gave him at age seven. He has, over the years, deftly
familiarized himself with both classical and folk idioms and now
considers his style a hybrid of both.
